‘Dear Dreamer’ series – my monthly biz chats with amazing entrepreneurs!

Meet Abby, the multi-passionate owner of Abby Joy Studio. She’s a very talented photographer, content creator and also a graphic designer! She shares her adventures and helpful tips on her YouTube channel.

  1. Tell us a little bit about you and what you do.
My name is Abby Joy, and I’m a full-time graphic designer and part-time wedding photographer and content creator! I just passed my one year anniversary on Youtube and am so close to reaching 500 subscribers! It’s definitely daunting to put yourself out there as a creative, but I love challenging myself and inspiring others to explore their imaginations and potential! (I’m also a huge memory keeper so being able to document my adventures while helping others with photography, travel, and creativity is a bonus!)

  2. What’s your view on being multi-passionate?
We need to celebrate being multi-passionate more often! I’m not sure why it feels like such a burden when it’s truly God’s gift. You are able to touch more lives and connect with others as you learn and excel at different things. If you’re looking for some inspiration and encouragement, I recommend visiting Jordan Lee Dooley and her book “Own Your Everyday.”

  3. What are some of the benefits of being multi-passionate?
I love being multi-passionate because it gives you the opportunity to connect with more individuals on a personal level. It’s also motivating that I can divide my time up and know that there’s always something fun and different planned.

  4. When you’re multi-passionate, it can sometimes feel as if your brain never stops racing – what’s your favourite way to slow down?
This often happens to me! I’m very much a journaler and list-maker, so to slow down, I write out my thoughts and make checklists, prioritizing the most important at the top. Each checklist usually has a pros-and-cons section to help me dial in on what I really need to focus on. I also find talking my thoughts out (with myself and with God) very helpful. My phone is full of voice memos of my chats with Jesus!

  5. What are you looking forward to right now?
I just received a possibility to work at a camp next summer as a camp photographer and videographer, and I’m beyond excited!! I worked at 3 different camps in college, and after graduating, I wasn’t sure if I’d ever be able to serve at a camp or go on a missions trip again. I love that through my passion for photography, I can meet new people and impact kids for Christ! (Plus, travel is a bonus!)

Abby, thank you so much for your time and answering these questions! I loved reading them and totally agree that we need to celebrate being multi-passionate more often. 🙂 It’s also amazing that you’ll be able to work at a summer camp again, I am so happy for you!
